Dear Parent,
Greetings,
Welcome to the new school year , lots has been achieved in the past few days ,.
As we begin the new school year , we find teachers establishing school standards and rules , Teachers have established specific routines for the children to follow. This means giving children a specific place to find and keep materials, a set schedule for classroom instructions and so on. These routines blended with the teacher's consistent standards , form a smooth running classroom where the children have the security of understanding their environment and are reinforced positively for their contributions.
At home, it is also important to provide routines. As families establish routines for the new school year , it is helpful to keep in mind that childhood is a special time of learning, exploration and growth.
We had a smooth opening of school and all the teachers had worked hard to decorate their rooms and create a welcoming learning environment.
We also extend a warm welcome to our new faculty members ---Ms Etisha, Ms Archana, in the Elementary section .
It's my sincere request to parents that teachers face a new lot each year and kindly do not form any judgement based on one interaction with the teacher . Just like we like to give children a week to settle and get normalised in the new class room so does the teacher needs some time. We have selected the best ..the main criterea which is important while giving them a particulur class is their ability to interact with that group and to be able to make learning exciting. Trust us your child will get the best !!!! Our focus is always on Individualised learning.
We are determined to make Excelsior ---a school with a difference and definitely I shall leave no stone unturned for that as a director.
It is the hope of the staff and the administration that all parents will help us fulfill this commitment to excellence on behalf of all children at Excelsior. The school and home can work together to build skills and knowledge, reinforce values and develop a strong sense of self worth.
My vision as always for the Excelsior student---'Be Yourself, try your best and never be afraid to dream'
Thanks you all once again for all your help and support in getting our students off to a great new school year. We look forward to your continued involvement in your child's education and participation in school events throughout the coming year. Our goal is to strengthen the home school relationship by building a strong partnership with parents. Working together maybe we can achieve that heaven which we dream of…
Thanks

Dear Parent,
Should Diwali be a time to do some good work and receive 'true blessings' from goddess Lakshmi?
In the midst of today's busy lifestyle, Diwali gives an opportunity to pause and be grateful for what we have, to make special memories with family and friends, to laugh and enjoy what life offers us.. Diwali is such a wonderful festival, a time of giving and sharing, a time to catch up with people, in other words its time to catch up with the little joys that we keep overlooking for the remaining part of the year.
Diwali is a time when we need to ponder –have we, each one of us in our individual capacity, left the world a little
happier than we found it last. Life gives us chances galore with the
dawning of each new day and let us seize them as parents and educators and
determine to make the world brighter than it was the previous day. In this season of benevolence let us not forget to train the young
Excelsior students to spread the special brand of kindness and touch the
lives of – The old and the forgotten……..
As a part of Diwali celebrations , on the 07th of November, we shall be taking Grades I to Grades VI to Mother Teresa's Old age home at Chattarpur, New Delhi.
When I visited the institute the other day to ask if there was anything in particular they needed that we could take with us, the Sister said, Oh, there are many things they need. But, Please do not get sweets…. Surely enough, there were boxes and boxes of sweets at the home. Sent by loving children and relatives for their mothers on the festival. Boxes of sweets for old people, most of whom were diabetic or had other health problems. And could not eat them anyway. Boxes of sweets, for the old people, and not a single visitor, from any of the families.
What they need is love, they need somebody to come and spend time with them . These are the old people, who many of them have been abandoned by their own children. We want to instill values amongst the Excelsior students and what better ways then to go and light up the lives of those people who really need it.
I decided this year against having a function at school and felt that this would be an excellent way of celebrating Diwali. We shall be carrying the wishes of the whole school.
Kindly note…
We shall be having a special assembly for Diwali on the 06th November , its basically for the children but if any parents wish to come, they may do so.
Grades I to Grade VI will be visiting 'Mother Teresa's Old Age home at Chhatarpur on the 07th of November 2007, where children and Teachers will be presenting song and Dance items specially prepared for them . We are carrying loads of things for them .Incase any parent wishes to give some things please do so at the earliest and hand them over at the help desk.
The things needed by them are
Soaps, Detergent Powder, Toothpaste, oil and things of daily necessities, salwar Kameez[Large size], Pants and shirt, Male Kurta and Pajamas... Please do not give money as they need things.
Wishing You all a very Happy and a prosperous Diwali,
Thanks & regards

Dear Parent,
The Show and Tell session went on very well in class today. The topic was 'Healthy Foods'. The children brought up charts, models, fruits and talked about healthy eating. There was a very insightful article on
vegetarian diet. Children understood the concept of vitamins, minerals and their significance for a healthy body. Junk foods and drinks were also mentioned and how damaging they can be for us.
We also discussed the importance of a healthy lifestyle in general as a golden rule which includes "Healthy eating", Excercising, cleanliness and Independent and Responsible attitude in taking care of ourselves and our belongings.
Well done children and thankyou parents for all your support.

Dear Parent,
Greetings!!!!!!
Sep 9th 2007 is the Grandparents Day and for that reason, our next class unit study is "My Grandparents and I". During this study we will be finding out about the roles, rights and responsibilities of grandparents and grandchildren.
It will culminate with the children making special gifts for their grandparents.
We would request you that the gifts made by them must be forwarded to the grandparents and those children, who may not have grandparents, please let them gift these to a Grand Friend (an older family friend, neighbor, aunt or uncle). They shall be carrying these small gifts made by their hands on the 07th of September.
You can help us in other ways too, to make this study meaningful for your
child, e.g.
• By sending along (named) photos of their grandparents
• By sending any books / tape stories etc. you may have ongrandparents themes to share with the class
• By helping your child to identify a "keepsake" connected with a grandparent that they could bring to share, i.e. an object that has personal or emotional connection to a grandparent, something that evokes
feelings and memories. It can be small and inexpensive; its value is tied to the memories it holds, (e.g. a shell collected on a beach visit together, a book that belonged to their grandparent as a child, something handed down to them.) Talk about the story of their keepsake with them. These will be shared, and returned immediately.
We look for forward to a very enjoyable unit study.

Visit to the Dentist
Dear Parent,
Dental care was the chosen topic of discussion and there we saw young minds at work, with lots of queries and unanswered questions in their head.
The visit to a dentist was a must and so was organized by the school which was not only fruitful and provided knowledge of immense importance to the kids but also answered their questions like “Why are my teeth so wavy?” (Kaveri Uberoy), “Why do you only silver in the teeth?” (Anusha), “Do you have an X-ray machine and how do you use it?” (Gio)
Not only this they wanted to satisfy their taste buds and at the same time keep their teeth healthy so the obvious question was: - “Which is the best time to have sweets?” And others like “If we do not have a brush and just a Colgate how should we brush?”
The doctor answered them all, they were so enthusiastic and indeed this was a very educating trip for them.

Dear Parent,
Greetings!!!!!!
We are sure you are having a great time with your children in the summer holidays and we are looking forward to welcome them back. It’s hard to believe that the warm wonderful days of summer have passed so quickly. Summer is a time for educators to take instead of give-…..take in fresh air, take in new ideas, and take time to read and take time to just contemplate. How many of us have learnt that doing nothing is doing something?
We are all now looking forward to welcome the children back on the 16th of July 2007 after the long summer break. Since parents are our partners let us tell you the work, which we have been trying to accomplish in the summer break.
1. Cambridge people visited the premises and the certification number will come through by the 2nd week of July.
2. Athletic track is nearing completion and by the time children are back we shall be ready to train them in all athletic activities.
3. We are introducing the WADDLER’S PROGRAM for 12 to 18 months children.. This program commences on the 15th of August 2007. Please go through the website www.excelsioreducation.org to check the program details.
4. To streamline our elementary curriculum more we have divided the curriculum month wise Grade I upwards and it is available on the school website. [The weekly planner will be also adhered to]
Assessment is an integral part of your child’s educational process. These assessments on each Friday grade II upwards —will be selected with emphasis on critical thinking and problem solving as a criterion. Parent’s support is an extremely important factor in building positive attitudes and study habits.
5. The teachers training session was conducted for 15 days after the school closed and we shall be having another session from 02nd of July when the teachers join back work. We also have our program coordinator, Ms Tina who has come from US to train the teachers. She will work with them in the classroom once the school reopens. Teachers’ training is an integral part of the Excelsior school process as it helps in keeping them at par with our methodology and program.
6. To make the journey of your child in the school a memorable event,I am planning to make each child’s portfolio thus I’d request you to send a handwritten letter [individually by both parents] addressed to your child and a photograph of his or her you treasure. And we will attach one work of his along with it and these memories; will be collected every year to be handed to the child when he or she passes out from the school.
Thanks

Excelsior's word of encouragement for the Summer Campers–
Dear Parents,
It is important for home and school to work together to build a strong
character in our children. At the Camp we have been focusing on character traits such as responsibility, respect, caring, kindness, perseverance, tolerance and initiative. These traits will enable them to be successful in
life. We are extremely proud that a lot of learning has taken place in the
past two weeks of the Summer Camp and the children have enjoyed themselves
thoroughly.
We are most proud of our wonderful campers and their impressive
accomplishments and excellent behaviour.
Children of Group C came up with wonderful poems during the workshop on '
Poetry with Pizzazz' .
Since, we at Excelsior always believe in encouraging a child's creativity
because that alone will give them the wings to fly or Dare to dream in the
future….........we have put all the children's poems on our website
www.excelsioreducation.org.
Please do go through it as that will encourage them further and motivate
them.
Thanks,
