Let's Say No To Cracker's
Dear Parent,
Greetings!!!!
Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is the gala of merrymaking, love and togetherness. To celebrate the triumph of good over the evil, people used to decorate their houses by lighting eco-friendly earthen lamps filled with mustard oil. Indeed, fireworks have been associated with Diwali since long though crackers made their entry later on.
Today crackers that produces as high as 125 decibels have become a cause of concern for many people as they have been spoiling the festivity of the much-awaited event of the year owing to air and noise pollution. According to a latest report, air pollution rises by 6 per cent to 10 per cent, which results in irritation in eyes, br0nchitis, asthma and other respiratory ailments due to high concentration of gases that emerge from the emission of crackers like Sulpher dioxide and carbon monoxide. Every year many people, especially old and small children, fall prey to such ailments. These firecrackers also cause noise pollution
The crackers used during this festival may cause temporary or permanent hearing impairment. Apart from this, people suffer burns which leave behind anguish, pain and misery. People generally think that firecrackers are fun if handled carefully but in reality they are not. That is why we see an increase in fire accidents every Diwali night.
Also, not very far away in the deserted lanes and by lanes of our country, tiny little hands toil non-stop not in play, but to make a meager living for adorning our festival of lights, with sparkling fireworks that bring us momentary joy.
These little hands have seen few live year or may be fifteen, their stoic eyes do not shed tears of joy or sorrow………….they water with a stinging sensation and all hollow: more than food their bodies are fed with toxic chemicals.
Let’s rise together and say a firm ‘NO’ to fireworks and crackers.
Let’s take a pledge to celebrate Diwali this year with sweets, flowers, and loads of love.
Let’s have a crackling. Diwali without crackers
Wishing you and your family members a very HAPPY DIWALI
Thanks
With warm regards

Dear Parents,
This week has been a time for revising and reinforcing all the concepts learnt so far. The children have been progressing with their academics and take a very keen interest in all they do. Language - especially reading skills - has been the main focus. Please continue to practice reading with/to your child regularly as it will help them build their language skills. The Reading Moms programme has also been showing wonderful and encouraging results - A big thank you to all the Moms who've volunteered!
In Culture, we've been learning about North America - it's countries, flags, animals etc. and about the Fish and its body parts. The character curriculum being followed this month was Positive Attitude, which was discussed during Circle Time. The children learnt about the importance of smiling and we've had many impromptu smiling sessions this week in class :-) The skill they've learnt in Practical Life this week has been straining which they've been very enthusiastic about; so do encourage them at home as well!
Wish you all a very happy Dusshera. Hope you all have a wonderful holiday.
Regards,
Viveka

To All The Parents Of Wildlife
It has been a very special week just before the Dusshera Holidays. There is
lot of excitement in class since most of the children are looking forward
to their trips during their break.
This week:
In Numearacy: The children wrote number 13 and 14 and tried to understand
its value.
In Vocabulary and Language: All the sounds of h, m, d, f, g, r, n, s, and t were
revised and written.
In Grace and Courtesy children learnt the importance of calm and order for
productive work. Infact some children missed their lesson of a day since the
class was unable to follow a decorum. Henceforth the work had to be stopped
in an endeavor to have children appreciate and inculcate the importance of
maintaining a calm and orderly environment for constructive work.
In Practical life: The children enjoyed the exercise of straining through a
sieve.
In Cultural: The Continent N. America has been the topic throughout the
month. This week the children colored in different flags of US, Canada and
Mexico. The children also colored in their Mollusk Book.
In Sensorial: The material on the Mollusk was demonstrated in concurrence
with their Science topic.
In Music: The children loved the "At School " Song and for some the keyboard
lessons started this week.
In PE: The children learnt to move with the ball freely.
I wish all of you a very Happy Dusshera Holidays and see all of you back on
the 9.9.06
Ms. Radha.
