Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |
| As you are aware that education at Excelsior is an integrated process wherein many values are inculcated or imbibed as a part of the curriculum. |
| Sex education is also an integral part of the curriculum as it is about developing young people's skills so that they make informed choices about their behavior, and feel confident and competent about acting on these choices. |
Sex education that works starts early, before young people reach puberty, and before they have developed established patterns of behavior. The precise age at which information should be provided depends on the physical, emotional and intellectual development of the young people as well as their level of understanding.
It is important not to delay providing information to young people but to begin |
| Sometimes it can be difficult for parents to know when to raise issues, but the important thing is to maintain an open relationship with children which provides them with opportunities to ask questions when they have them. Parents can also be proactive and engage young people in discussions about sex, sexuality and relationships. Naturally, many parents and their children feel embarrassed about talking about some aspects of sex and sexuality. Viewing sex education as an on-going conversation about values, attitudes and issues as well as providing facts can be helpful. The best basis to proceed on is a sound relationship in which a young person feels able to ask a question or raise an issue if they feel they need to. Parents must realize showing of affection to one another should be explained to the child as a normal process of liking someone so that they do not grow up with insecurities in their mind. |
| The more you hide the more the curiosity builds up. Today's rapid world provides any information at the tip of the finger. This information can be right or misleading. There is a whole plethora of information available just a click away. So its our duty the family and the school to provide the right information. We should talk more openly about sex and other related issues. Provide the right information and create awareness because we cannot be like ostriches, putting our heads into the ground every time we hear the word SEX. |
| Children must grow up as responsible adults and thus understanding their feelings rather than mocking it off is a better way of handling. This makes the child feel secure ,safe and trust his parents so that as they grow up they feel free to ask you questions that might be bothering them rather than collecting wrong information from their peers. |
| This letter is just to make you aware, so that you are prepared to answer children's questions in a positive manner if they ask something which they have heard in the school by the teacher. |
| In younger classes we shall be discussing this in the following ways |
How the plants grow and relate it to the changes we see taking place in our body |
The knowledge about Good Touch and Bad Touch. Children are never too young to learn anything. |
Our body and the need for wearing Clothes. Why Girls body is different than boy's? |
| In grades V upwards the Science and the EVS teacher will hold discussions and make them aware of |
Menstruation cycle and its process. |
Growth of our body and the changes that occur. |
Pregnancy. |
| I do hope you will provide us the support we are looking for to make our students grow up as responsible human beings possessing the right knowledge about things. |
Thank you
With Warm Regards

Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |
| The Agra trip organized on 14th and 15th November 2009 was indeed an important landmark in the history of Excelsior American School. It was the first time that we organized an Overnight stay outside the school premises. And it would not have been accomplished without the support and co-operation of my dear parents and teachers. |
| The purpose behind the trip was to make the children responsible and independent, which is again a very important part of education. I was very proud and happy to see how each child took care of themselves and of their friends in the group. Each child behaved in a very responsible manner which was not forced upon them but came as a natural response. The experience they had on the trip will definitely help them in becoming responsible and considerate towards one another. |
| Kindly note that the photographs taken during the trip will be shortly uploaded on the school website. The intimation for the same will be given. |
| I am very thankful to all the parents for having faith and trust in us and to my teachers who were a great help and companion on the trip. |
Thank you

Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |
| At a certain stage of our lives, we all meet with the dilemma on how to raise a kind and honest child. All of us who are concerned about moral education and successful future for one's children are looking for a methodology that can assist in the upbringing of a good citizen in this world. |
I faced this situation today in Grade III , this happened as some children had written some demeaning remarks on the walls of the girl’s wash room. The first thought that occurred to me was, ‘Oh Boy we have grown,’ as generally this kind of thing is very common among the Grades VIIIth upwards and I have faced it many a times in my career.
I decided to tackle the problem so used my usual line that we have a camera so we know who has written it but at the same time telling them that I would never like to hurt anyone or demean them in front of the whole school as we all make mistakes and it’s perfectly fine to do so. |
| I asked them a simple question as to why do they lie and as expected they came up with the most expected answer, ‘If I tell the truth, my Mother will get very angry, so I tell a lie ‘ , Another one came up with the explanation that she had never heard of being awarded and applauded for being honest as from whichever school she came from , they would punish her and call her parents if she admitted to a crime which she has done,’ |
| I was overwhelmed by their answers and realized that they are not telling the truth because they don’t know the merits of being honest , they have never been praised for it and felt bad. |
| Of course my mission was accomplished in that half an hour of sharing and listening to them as the children who had written in the wash room came and admitted and felt very happy as I praised them for it and they were also happy as I kept my word of it being a secret between them and me. |
| Children lie for the following reasons: |
| Their parents are high up and see everything from up above. They're embarrassed. They feel shy. They are not sure what to say. Their parents don't let them do things. Their parents might not realise they're lying. To stop their parents asking lots of questions. To get themselves out of some kind of situation. Children feel which reply should be given to their parents and, what should not be exposed. Children want to keep their lives secret. |
| It turns out that when children reach their teens, lying becomes a part of life. It builds an invisible barrier between parents and kids. And this barrier starts one's existence from the very beginning of the life of a child. |
| How can we steer children away from the desire to lie? |
| Rule number 1: Above all, try not to lie yourself. This does not always happen. If a child discovers you have lied, tell him: "Yes, it is very hard not to lie. I don't always manage it, but I am learning to be honest, and I want you to learn that too. Only strong people can tell the truth. I believe you'll grow up to be a strong person."The child won't lose respect for you if he hears something like that. In reality, he will understand that he should admit his own slips and errors. |
| Rule number 2: Don't ignore even the smallest, most insignificant lie. A suitable fairytale can help you no end. You can tell young children stories using toys as aids. Take the toys and act out a situation where a child tells a lie. Discuss with the children whether the toys have behaved correctly or not. |
| Bunny and bear lived together and shared everything. One day, bunny bought some tasty chocolates, while bear was out for a walk. He hid the chocolates in the cupboard and thought: "I'll go to work now, and in the evening I'll come back and give bear some chocolates." But when bunny returned home, he couldn't find the chocolates in the cupboard. "Bear, did you take my chocolates?" bunny asked. "No, I didn't take them - I didn't even see them," bear replied, and he went red, quietly hiding the chocolate wrappers in his pocket. Bunny didn't say anything, but he was really upset. |
| After the story, ask the child: |
| Why do you think bunny was so upset? Who took the chocolates? What should bear do to make bunny feel better? |
| The story will help the child understand their behavior more deeply then a few general words about how it is bad to lie. A story linked with the child's own life is a powerful teaching aid. When the children are older, philosophical and psychological stories can help children understand the harm that lying causes. |
| Rule number 3: When you're telling children off, don't humiliate them. Most importantly, discuss about the incident. Show the child that you're worried and upset. You can bring an 'honesty chair' into the room ? an attractive, comfy chair. Suggest the child sits in it in order to become honest. If your punishment involves depriving the child of something 'cartoons, sweets, toys or computer games - show them that you're suffering too and sympathising with them. Be a good friend to your child, even when you are punishing them. If, for example, you are punishing your child by not giving him sweets, while you do eat sweets yourself, or forbid him to watch his favourite movies while you do continue to enjoy watching tv yourself. The child feels the world is unjust if adults are allowed what he is not, and will protect himself from this injustice using lies. |
| Rule number 4: Try to be in all situations and under any circumstances, a good friend to your children. Remember, people don't cheat their friends. This will stop an impenetrable wall of lies dividing your family into two separate parts who don't understand each other's worlds. |
| Help us to make Excelsior children honest and believing in themselves and also that it is all right to make mistakes , after all the person who makes the most mistakes rises the most in life because he is ready to take risks and get out of his comfort zone. |
Thanks
With warm regards

Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |

Positive learning and instilling the right values in children is an integral part of education. This include teaching the children to keep their classroom, cafeteria and the bathrooms clean.
Today the boys of Grade III were asked to clean the bathroom and grade III and IV children had to clean the cafeteria. |
| This was done as despite being told repeatedly some children tend to leave them dirty. It is important that each parent speaks to the children about this incident so that jointly we are able to imbibe the right values which for me is extremely important. . |

Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |
| All children have natural admiration and love for animals, keeping this in mind we have decided to adopt a school Dog & a Cat.Besides we have already around 5 rabbits in the school.Pets can prove to be great companion to humans and are often used in therapies for trauma victims and special children. The children are already excited about the idea and are thinking of different names for the pets. I am sure that this effort will help children in the over all development of their personality and make them compassionate and sensitive towards others. |

Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |
| I would love to share this incident which took place in Grade 2 A while I was taking their class yesterday. It is an eye opener for us adults and a very fulfilling thought as whatever anyone might say this is the kind of education which is important and mandatory. |
| Some children had thrown another child's pencil box in the dustbin and the concerned child was really upset so we decided to search the whole class but could not locate it. After a long time it was found in the dustbin. I took a circle time with them and told them that we have a camera in each class so we will come to know who has done it and that child would not be allowed to come to school from the next day. |
| My main intention while taking the circle time was making them understands that it's all right to make mistakes but what is needed is the ability to know when we do something wrong and the courage to admit it. |
| They all thought for some time and after that Ananya and Krishna stood up and Ananya said that 'Ms Shalini, I would not like you to punish any of my friends by stopping them from coming to the school and I am ready to take the responsibility for the same’. It actually brought tears to my eyes as this was indeed the real education. Krishna seconded the same thought and finally the child who had thrown it admitted. We clapped for all of them. |
| Sometimes I meet parents who insist that the child is not doing anything in math or English etc. Of course that is also equally important but we must remember the school needs to prepare children to be happy adults, content and confident to take the whole world by storm. |
| This is indeed where Excelsior will always remain different and we will provide education which is complete to let them step into this world when they pass out from school. |
| Most of the people who have excelled in this world , the reason behind their success is not only literacy but qualities like commitment, hard work, dedication, honesty and oft times schools in their hurry to complete the curriculum neglect these. |
| Look around yourself and think of even one person who you feel has been successful and think of that quality which has led him to achieve that and I know the answer to this for all of us will be the same. |
| May God always help me to achieve this and nothing is possible without your support. |
| I did not feel giving these two children a ‘Child of the week’ Tag would have been enough. They need a special appreciation and yes Ananya and Krishna …I am very proud of you and my Heartiest Congratulations to their parents too. |
Thank You
With Warm Regards

Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |
| “Everywhere I go I find that a poet has been there before me” --- Sigmund Freud |
| There are a lot of emotions embedded in us and lot of channels to express them too .our face, our eyes, our touch express a lot of emotion, and all these are non verbal, but the moment we associate words to them they become verbal, more meaningful, more expressive. |
| So here we are giving a chance to all our pupils to express themselves verbally through a poetry recitation competition as a part of the ‘Recitation and Poetry Appreciation Week ‘ 27th July to 03rd August 2009. |
| The rules for the competition in different grades are as follows: |
| |

The time allotted will be 3 to 4 minutes. |
The students will be judged on the following points
| |
Expression |
| |
Voice modulation & intonation |
| |
Creativity |
| |
Topic - 5 Self-Composed work. |
| |
The following classes will be competing on the given dates. |
30th July ……Lower Elementary IA , IB IIA and IIB |

In case you have travelled abroad please make sure you have got your children tested for swine flu [H1N1] before they re- join school. Some parents have expressed concern but I am sure you will understand as a school administratively it is difficult to get each child checked . I trust my parents and would request you to get it checked from appropriate authorities.
This is a reminder seeking your cooperation. |

Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |
| We welcome you back after a short break and we have worked hard to provide the children with the right environment which is warm, caring and loving. We have had extensive sessions and workshops for teachers so that they are able to fulfill our promise of individualized attention and each child moving at his or her own pace. |
| Kindly note the following…… |
Month wise curriculum for all classes will be emailed to you so that as a parent you are aware of the work to be done in the class. |
Friday folder with Peek at the week will be coming to you each Friday along with the child’s work. Please do make it a point to sign it and return the same by Monday. |
Till Grade II we follow informal assessment wherein the teachers have been instructed to maintain monthly individualized report of each child but Grade III onwards we shall have tests every Wednesday and Friday [incase it is a holiday the test will be postponed ] |
Assessment, Grade I upwards are calculated on the following basis |
| |
| 25% |
Weekly tests/ informal tests |
| 25% |
Class performance, team work, Self- Discipline |
| 25% |
Project work/ research work |
| 25% |
Home work |
Homework is an integral part of the educational process. We request you not to help the child in completing the work as this will not develop in a child the capability of doing work on his own.. Home work develops responsibility, builds good discipline and stimulates pride in work and helps the child to develop independent study habits. |
| |
Schedule for Homework will be as follows |
| |
| Dinosaurs/Wildlife |
10 minutes |
10 minutes |
| Cultural I & II |
10 to 15 minutes |
Wednesday & Friday |
| Grade I & II |
15 to 20 minutes |
Wednesday & Friday |
| Grade III & IV |
30 to 40 minutes |
Monday, Wednesday & Friday |
| Grade IV upwards |
1 hour to 1 ½ hour |
Everyday |
| |
Incase you feel the homework is more please do inform. |
Inculcate in children a habit to read and it’s a request when the children are reading at home do not become a teacher and start checking his or her mistakes as that will discourage them from picking up a book . Enjoy their reading out to you. |
Kindly do not call the help desk to relay messages to your children unless it is an absolute emergency. |
Follow the dispersal and arrival rules and you are requested not to pick up the child early, note the dispersal timings as it b ecomes difficult to explain to the other children why a child is leaving early. |
Inculcate in the child to be on time for school as this teaches them in the long run the value of time. Time management is crucial for children to be successful in life because as adults the major problem we face is managing time so help us in inculcating the right value in them. It’s not a school policy to check children for this as the teacher sometimes does not know the reason and this may hurt the child’s self esteem. |
For the needle work classes Grade I to Grade V please do send a labeled box [with the child’s name] with a needle, buttons, a piece of cloth and thread. |
| With reference to the pool period kindly make a note of the following..... |
Make a note of the class schedule. |
Please send the costume/ Towel etc with the children. |
Kindly inform via almanac to the class teacher incase you do not want the child to go to the pool. |

Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |
| It's that time of the year when we are ready to open admissions for next year and we started this process effective Monday 08th September 2008 . It's a time to reflect and ponder and work more towards taking Excelsior to greater heights and seeking parent's help in making the school grow further. |
| As I think back, I feel our biggest strength as an institution is the community we have created. A community that cares, and is genuinely struggling to build Excelsior into a better place for learning. I think we have the right intent and we are trying. I am also aware that we have a long way to go. |
| Based on the analysis of the best-practices in schools across the country we have been able to make Excelsior American School even more child-centered in terms of opportunity to every child to flourish – emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually. Towards this we have upgraded curriculum and teaching methodologies to the most progressive and in line with international benchmarks. We are working more towards providing the quality of education which will go a long way in turning out life long learners. |
Our focus has always been on quality and thus we plan to make it a two section school so that we can maintain the high level of standards we have set for ourselves and achieve the goal we have set for ourselves. Any pursuit for excellence must begin with honest feedback from all stakeholders
Since it's always been my philosophy that transparency is extremely important, it's time again to start with a Feedback from the parents. I would request each and every parent to come and share their observations and concerns if any which will help the school in growing further and reaching that pinnacle which we have set for ourselves.
I shall be meeting you all on a one to one basis starting this Friday, so kindly come and meet me any day between 0200 pm to 0300pm or fix up an appointment at the help desk if this time does not suit you. |
| I am looking forward to meeting you all. |
Thanks
With warm regards

Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |
We are sure you are having a great time with your children in the summer
holidays and we are looking forward to welcome them back. It's hard to
believe that the warm wonderful days of summer have passed so quickly.
Summer is a time for educators to take instead of give-…..take in fresh
air, take in new ideas, and take time to read and take time to just
contemplate. How many of us have learnt that doing nothing is doing
something? |
| We are all now looking forward to welcome the children back on the 01st of August
after the long summer break.
Kindly take a note of the following… |
We have already forwarded you the forms via email for Friday Clubs[Grade I upwards], Specialized Enrichment classes[Discovery/Dinosaurs and Wildlife], Horse Riding, Day care [Safari, Discovery, Dinosaurs and Wildlife], Excelsior Enrichment clubs. Incase you are interested in either kindly fill it up and submit it at the help desk. |
Assessment is an integral part of your child's educational
process. These assessments on each Friday grade III upwards —will be
selected with emphasis on critical thinking and problem solving as a
criterion. Parent's support is an extremely important factor in building
positive attitudes and study habits. |
We had wonderful training sessions and motivational workshops for teachers and they are all excited to welcome the children back. Teachers' training is an integral part
of the Excelsior school process as it helps in keeping them at par with our
methodology and program. |
Grade V upwards French has been introduced as a third language and kindly send in your option incase you are interested your child in learning the language. |
We are happy to welcome new faculty members Ms Alka, Ms Navneet and Ms Swati. |
Our Science, Math and Social Studies labs construction is complete. |
We are indeed privileged to welcome on the 04th Of August a group of 14 educators from USA [part of the GEO movement]. They shall be spending the whole day amongst the children and teachers. This is part of the exchange initiative which we are planning to undertake from next year. |
| It is the hope of the staff and the administration that all parents will help us fulfill this commitment to excellence on behalf of all children at Excelsior. The school and home can work together to build skills and knowledge, reinforce values and develop a strong sense of self worth. |
Thanks

Dear Parents,
Greeting!!! |
| Welcome to the new school year , lots has been achieved in the past few days. |
| As we begin the new school year , we find teachers establishing school standards and rules , Teachers have established specific routines for the children to follow. This means giving children a specific place to find and keep materials, a set schedule for classroom instructions and so on. These routines blended with the teacher's consistent standards , form a smooth running classroom where the children have the security of understanding their environment and are reinforced positively for their contributions. |
| At home, it is also important to provide routines. As families establish routines for the new school year , it is helpful to keep in mind that childhood is a special time of learning, exploration and growth. |
| We had a smooth opening of school and all the teachers had worked hard to decorate their rooms and create a welcoming learning environment. |
| We also extend a warm welcome to our new faculty members ---Ms Etisha, Ms Archana, in the Elementary section . |
| It's my sincere request to parents that teachers face a new lot each year and kindly do not form any judgement based on one interaction with the teacher . Just like we like to give children a week to settle and get normalised in the new class room so does the teacher needs some time. We have selected the best ..the main criterea which is important while giving them a particulur class is their ability to interact with that group and to be able to make learning exciting. Trust us your child will get the best !!!! Our focus is always on Individualised learning. |
| We are determined to make Excelsior ---a school with a difference and definitely I shall leave no stone unturned for that as a director. |
| It is the hope of the staff and the administration that all parents will help us fulfill this commitment to excellence on behalf of all children at Excelsior. The school and home can work together to build skills and knowledge, reinforce values and develop a strong sense of self worth. |
| My vision as always for the Excelsior student---'Be Yourself, try your best and never be afraid to dream' |
| Thanks you all once again for all your help and support in getting our students off to a great new school year. We look forward to your continued involvement in your child's education and participation in school events throughout the coming year. Our goal is to strengthen the home school relationship by building a strong partnership with parents. Working together maybe we can achieve that heaven which we dream of… |

Dear Parent, |
Should Diwali be a time to do some good work and receive 'true blessings' from goddess Lakshmi?
In the midst of today's busy lifestyle, Diwali gives an opportunity to pause and be grateful for what we have, to make special memories with family and friends, to laugh and enjoy what life offers us.. Diwali is such a wonderful festival, a time of giving and sharing, a time to catch up with people, in other words its time to catch up with the little joys that we keep overlooking for the remaining part of the year. |
| Diwali is a time when we need to ponder –have we, each one of us in our individual capacity, left the world a little
happier than we found it last. Life gives us chances galore with the
dawning of each new day and let us seize them as parents and educators and
determine to make the world brighter than it was the previous day. In this season of benevolence let us not forget to train the young
Excelsior students to spread the special brand of kindness and touch the
lives of – The old and the forgotten…….. |
| As a part of Diwali celebrations , on the 07th of November, we shall be taking Grades I to Grades VI to Mother Teresa's Old age home at Chattarpur, New Delhi. |
| When I visited the institute the other day to ask if there was anything in particular they needed that we could take with us, the Sister said, Oh, there are many things they need. But, Please do not get sweets…. Surely enough, there were boxes and boxes of sweets at the home. Sent by loving children and relatives for their mothers on the festival. Boxes of sweets for old people, most of whom were diabetic or had other health problems. And could not eat them anyway. Boxes of sweets, for the old people, and not a single visitor, from any of the families. |
| What they need is love, they need somebody to come and spend time with them . These are the old people, who many of them have been abandoned by their own children. We want to instill values amongst the Excelsior students and what better ways then to go and light up the lives of those people who really need it. |
| I decided this year against having a function at school and felt that this would be an excellent way of celebrating Diwali. We shall be carrying the wishes of the whole school. |
| Kindly Note |
| We shall be having a special assembly for Diwali on the 06th November , its basically for the children but if any parents wish to come, they may do so. |
| Grades I to Grade VI will be visiting 'Mother Teresa's Old Age home at Chhatarpur on the 07th of November 2007, where children and Teachers will be presenting song and Dance items specially prepared for them . We are carrying loads of things for them .Incase any parent wishes to give some things please do so at the earliest and hand them over at the help desk. |
| The things needed by them are Soaps, Detergent Powder, Toothpaste, oil and things of daily necessities, salwar Kameez[Large size], Pants and shirt, Male Kurta and Pajamas... Please do not give money as they need things. |
| Wishing You all a very Happy and a prosperous Diwali, |
Thanks & regards

Dear Parent, |
| The Show and Tell session went on very well in class today. The topic was 'Healthy Foods'. The children brought up charts, models, fruits and talked about healthy eating. There was a very insightful article on
vegetarian diet. Children understood the concept of vitamins, minerals and their significance for a healthy body. Junk foods and drinks were also mentioned and how damaging they can be for us. |
| We also discussed the importance of a healthy lifestyle in general as a golden rule which includes "Healthy eating", Excercising, cleanliness and Independent and Responsible attitude in taking care of ourselves and our belongings. |
| Well done children and thankyou parents for all your support. |
Thanks

Dear Parent, |
| As a part of their 'Community service' Curriculum some children from Grades II to Grade VI are putting up stalls on this Saturday 29th Sep2007, from 0900 am to 1200pm in the school. They will purchase blankets and eatables from the money they collect and this will be donated to an orphanage in Gurgaon. |
| Kindly do purchase things from them, as this will encourage them further towards social work. Ms Pooja is in charge of this project so incase you wish to give some old clothes, books, etc please do forward it to her. Children will be visiting the orphanage around Diwali time. |

Hi, |

Kudos for providing each and every child with an opportunity to speak up
in front of their peers and loved ones. It inculcates confidence and boosts
their self esteem. Also the informaliy of the event took away the pressureof performing.
Cheers for the effort !

Dear Ms Shalini, |
| We have been in continuous touch with Ms Rachna and the activities going on in the class. We are really happy with the progress of activities in various subjects. Shardul has shown significant progress in English, EVS, Mathematics and initiation on cultural curriculum is good. We were hugely impressed by the confidence with which Shardul presented his power point presentation off late. We will appreciate if more effort is put in Hindi as well along with more practice sheets. |
| We wish Ms Rachna quick recovery and hope she will join back soon. |

Dear Ms. Shalini, |
| As a parent myself since our relocation I rely very heavily on fellow parents for any and all referals ranging from dentists/pediatricians/stores/schools etc. |
| Excelsior has been such a solid framework and foundation for our settling down in India. Kids took to Excelsior from day 1 and each morning they are eager to get to school. My son Samarth complains that his baby sister Avantika delays him each morning. Its a joy to see our kids enjoying each day at school and which has made our relocation so much more easier. Friends from US inquire how our kids are liking India and how are they settling. I have sent out Excelsior website to many of my friends who want to see where our kids are schooling and they themselves also are contemplating relocation. They are encouraged to see a school of Excelsior standards and facilities. |
| I am very sure that parent referral would be a great initiative to take Excelsior forward. Please rest assured that at any given opportunity we would be proud to introduce Excelsior to fellow parents. |

Hi, |

This incident brought tears to my eyes too. I truely agree with what Ms Shalini said. It is difficult for us as adults to show such examplory behaviour and these kids have so much of wisdom, maturity, compassion and selflessness !

Hi, |
| Just wanted to say Thanks for quite a wonderful year, specially for Urja. |
As you know we relocated from Dallas last Sept & she joined your school in Cultural II with Ms Vishali as her teacher. The first 10 days were all she required to get over her past school experiences and start looking forward to her new school, teacher & friends. She learnt to read, multiply, play soccer , horse riding and quite a few other things , in the last few months.
She is now in 1st Grade with Ms Geetika and so far all seems to be going well. |
| Barring a few hiccups from our end ( not at all from Urja's ) , we are very pleased to have chosen Excelsior because we feel that it is doing very well for her overall development. We were keen that aside from Academics ,Urja should also be exposed to a wide spectrum of activities. Which luckily your school has provided us . |
| A large part of the credit goes to you, my dear & the way you have chosen & trained your Staff. |
| The School environment is so important for our children specially because they spend majority of the time with you ,learning all that they can. Please keep up the good work & also commend your Staff & Colleagues for the same. |
| Lookin forward to rejoining in July...... |
Have a great Summer!
Enjoy.......

Dear Parent, |
| Thank you for providing children with nurturing and non-judgmental environment in the school and classroom. We could not have found a better school coming from US. Just knowing that our children were not threatened and intimidated while away from us for the major part of the day made a lot of difference. Kuddos to you and your staff. Grisham remembers Ms. Parul and Ashi talks about Ms. Ekta. They are currently going to a school with a hands on learning and whole-child philosophy in San Francisco Bay area. Please do convey my warm regards to Ms. Ekta and Ms. Parul for being patient and loving. A very happy new year to you. |

| Imogen has really enjoyed her time at the school and both my wife and I

Dear Ms Radhika, |
| I would like to share this incident with you all. On 06th January, my son Aryaman Gupta [I B] was playing in the school after school hours, in my presence and under my supervision. At 04.15 pm he fell from the slide and was howling in pain and bleeding profusely from the mouth. |
Ms Shalini Nambiar came out on hearing the screams and the guard Tiwari picked up Aryaman. She got the school driver to get the school vehicle and they rushed us to the hospital.
All this happened in 60 to 90 seconds. Ms Shalini was very concerned and reacted very fast. |
| Mr Tiwari, the guard did not get flustered and he knew exactly what he had to do. The school staff stayed with me till things was under control. |
My Friend Sheetal and her husband Avnish were with me throughout the traumatic experience. Sapna was very concerned and reached the hospital too.. They are all Excelsior parents.
We are very thankful and grateful to Ms Nambiar for the immediate evacuation to the hospital. |
| I wanted to share this with all the parents since it happened in school. Even though it was much past school hours, our school was so well equipped with handling an emergency. |
| Aryaman has cuts inside his mouth and on the chin. He is recovering well and is enjoying all the visits from his classmates and school friends and all the cards that are coming from the school, from Ms Navneet and all the children of Grade I B. He will be back in school soon. |
| Our sincere thanks to Ms Nambiar and all the staff of Excelsior American School. |

Best wishes

Dear Parent, |

Believe me it is not just the kids who always praise you but I have seen it myself, the way you handle kids is just amazing. It's gives us so much confidence that our children are in safe hands.Sanskriti cannot stop talking about her Ms. Shalini all the time. The confidence that Arjun has developed is very satisfying. |

Thanks also for all the encouragement and motivation given to her for every little effort that she made.I must acknowledge that it is your dedication and patience that has brought out my daughters latent talent which would have been left unexplored but for your kind support.I must say that Hemangi is fortunate to have mentors like you.
Thank you once again and please keep up the good work |

Dear Ms Shalini, |
| Its very nice to hear that the Excelsior wishes to maintain a healthy child teacher ratio inspite of the fact that there could be several students packed in one class would mean more profits! Parents should be happy that there is a school that cares for the children more than the numbers. As far as the the growth is concerned, we have seen the school grow fast in the last one year. |
| Besides, the quality of teaching will always ensure a huge patronage and a time comes when people strive hard but do not get admissions in the school. |
| Personally, I support your philosophy completely and truly believe that the children do much better when given a nurturing environment. They feel confident and cared for. They do notfeel inhibited which is very important for their personality growth. This, according to me is more critical than to let them be simply good in academics. Their creativity needs to be fostered. I have seen that in my son Aaryan. He is an intelligent and confident and a well mannered child with greatcommunication skills. I don't wish to send him to a school where he will just be another roll number. |
| I hope the school will always set an example to others by setting unprecedented quality standards which will truly produce bright global citizens of the future. |
| Please let me know if we can contribute in any way to be a better part of our children's lives in association with the school. |

Dear Ms Shalini, |
| Hope you remember our daughter, Aditi Badde who started as a 20 month old at Excelsior in 2006 Feb. She spent two wonderful years at the school and
developed into a very confident and young child. Unfortunately, my husband got transferred to mumbai in April, Aditi is now at Bombay Scottish. First Parent Teacher meeting for me was not pleasant as Aditi was not happy chaniging schools and here was a class of 45,finding difficult to adjust. But when I had a detailed sitdown session with her after this, she was able to act on the feedback and transformed herself. Second PTA was a pleasant one and the teacher could not relate to the earlier feedback shared by herself. Yesterday, she had her first term report card and her class teacher remark was \"Aditi is a polite and well behaved child and also an outstanding student\" and with principal\'s stamp of \"Terrific Work\". Both my husband and self give most credit to Excelsior for preparing Aditi to be able to adjust to a very competitive and challenging life in Mumbai. She remembers all her friends from her discovery days even today and keeps asking her dad when are you getting transferred back to Gurgaon so that she can join Excelsior again. Hope she is welcome back whenever we are back at Gurgaon. Thanks Excelsior and wish you all the best. |

Dear Ms Shalini, |
| I have just had a moment to sit at my PC and pen a few words. We are still in the process of settling down here in Gurgaon. Having our kids at excelsior has been an enriching experience. |
| Both Dipak and myself would like to thank you for the fun filled science exhibition weekend. We throughly enjoyed the displays and interacting with the students. |
| Emphasis on sports is vital to the well being of young minds and we would like to appreciate all your efforts in this regards. |
| Cheers

Dear Ms Shalini, |
| I was thinking that every Excelsior child should learn an Excelsior school song. Urvashi and Kaveri had a very nice song at their Challenger school in California. Please do ask Mr Hersh if their schools in Texas have a school song, I am sure it can be used here or modified as required. It will make the children proud of their school. |
| Thanks so much for a wonderful Science Exhibition. It was great to see the children completely absorbed in their experiments, enjoying what they were doing and able to explain concepts and facts. We were very proud to see the range of topics being covered. |
| Warm Regards

Hello Shalini, |
| I just wanted to drop in a line to let you know that Samarth and Avantika have now each had a couple of days at school. Samarth was a little disoriented the first day. This was the first time that he has gone to school from 8-3pm and the heat is a bummer. But today being his second day, he came back happy and exhausted. He seemed to have made a couple of friends and loved the splash pool which he finally got to experience since he had not taken his trunks the first day. |
| Avantika is also coping with the new schedule of 8-1pm but seemed very happy and exhausted. She was a little dissappointed that her brother got to get in the pool today but not her so I explained that her pool days are different. |
| My husband and myself had really good interactions with their respective teachers and we were very pleased with their understanding and appreciation of our concerns and transitional issues. |
| I myself got to observe the kids during the morning session and how the school functions. I would like to thank you and excelsior for offering a happy and nuturing environment to these kids. |
Many Thanks and Regards

Hello Shalini, |
Happy Teachers' Day! |
| We all hope for the very best upbringing for our kids and count on the school to play a significant role in this process. I am happy that I chose "Excelsior" for Chinmay where he will have the opportunity to develop into a compassionate, intellectually motivated, independent and confident individual. While we all recognize that the teachers who work with him everyday have helped him mature so much over the last several months I also want to let you know that I do realize that the driving force behind all this is the director of the school. It is so wonderful to see your passion and love for what you do. I truly hope that you will continue to drive forward the philosophy of the school no matter what obstacles and parental pressure you might face in the process. There are very few schools that encourage children to think independently and develop into their unique selves. It is certainly not an easy task and you are doing a phenomenal job in making this happen at Excelsior. |
| Wishing you many years of success in playing a very important positive role in the lives of all the children you educate at Excelsior. |
Best Regards

Dear Parent, |
| Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to enable all of us - the mothers feel proud of their being. |
| Enjoyed the every moment of my time spent in school today. In fact, yesterday during a conversation I told Archana about the remote chances of my presence in the school today. But I am glad I was able to make it. It surely was the best stress buster possible for any mother. |

Thanks and Regards

Dear Parent, |
Many times in the past you heard from me and/or my wife complaints about some aspects of the school we consider (at that time) should/could be solved.
Well, in this opportunity, let me tell you is different; in this opportunity I (we in fact) am sending an email to tell you that we are very happy with the school,
we are very happy with the teacher and her professionalism and focus on the children ( in this case Gabriel's) education. |
| We really appreciate your effort to put a program and professionals together to provide with excellence what we, as parent, expect. |
| Thanks a lot and rest assure Gabriel will be here the second week of August. |

Hello Shalini, |
| I would like to share two very distinct aspect of the school which has made me really happy and I can see my daughter undergoing a marked change in her personality. |
| Sports Day owes one such example. All the children were given a Medal and they just loved it. There was a visible sense of achievement on their lovely faces. My daughter Adya slept with her medal. She wore it all through the next day as well and showed to everybody she met. |
| The children do get a platform to speak during assembly – show and tell. I specifically noted how the school director Ms Shalini Nambiar encourages children especially those who are shy to participate, be it sports or speaking on stage and overcome stage fright. |
| What else should one want, when the school puts so much emphasis on developing real life skills |
Best Regards
Archana |

Dear Ms Shalini, |
Congratulations for a wonderful Sports Day! It was great to see the children participating whole heartedly in every dance and event. The races were wonderful and it was a heady feeling seeing the children sprinting across the track. The events leading up to the Sports Day were wonderful as well - the Cricket Matches, the Soccer Matches, the Cross Country run and the Long Jumps - the children have thoroughly enjoyed and participated
in every event. The prize distribution ceremony was spectacular - seeing the grins on the kids faces with their medal hauls was priceless. The Excelsior philosophy - "Every Child is a Winner" was truly demonstrated. |

Dear Parent Ma'm, |
| I am writing in to applaud the sincere efforts put in by your team and you in the recently concluded Musical Fiesta at Excelsior school. |
| It was an excellent idea to get the kids to do a group performance in English and Hindi on Day 1 allowing for them to develop class spirit and overcome stage anxieties. The initiative to have the kids sing along with a family member was a brilliant idea to get the kids to bond with the family member through this medium and resulted in tremendous moral boost and stage confidence. Trisha's performance with her dad was a very special event for us and will always be a very precious memory.Thank you for giving us this wonderful opportunity to be part of Trisha's music-centric journey. |
| And a huge round of applause for Derek Sir, for providing the background score tirelessly through the festival....in addition to his training given to the children. |
Warm Regards

Dear Parent, |
| I am very happy to see the progress in my daughter Sanskriti. The way she can communicate and the confidence she carries, i am sure no 5;6 year old would have. |
| I want to share her comment with you. She played the soccer match today and morning when we wished her good luck, her answer was "mummy it is not important to win or lose, what is important is to participate".I could make out that this isMs. Radha speaking. We were very happy. Infact her grandparents sometimes really wonder if she is 6 years old or more. |
| We wish you all the best and hope that you do really well and make excelsior the best school in the town. |
Thanks
